April is here! And as April does, it tends to do whatever it pleases. So, to ensure your next HotelCard getaway doesn't quite literally go down the drain, we've compiled some hotels for you that shine even on rainy days. Each of these hotels is located near a thermal spa or offers its own fantastic wellness amenities.
1) Dive into the "Zurzibiet"
As the name "Bad Zurzach" suggests, water is the central theme here. This quaint resort town is nestled in the picturesque Rhine landscape of the Aargau canton. The region invites you to enjoy extensive bike tours or relax in Switzerland's largest thermal spa. At the Therme Bad Zurzach you can enjoy the healing effects of the 39.9-degree warm thermal water, bubbling up from a spring 430 meters deep.
The thermal spa has been crowned the “Best Thermal Spa in Switzerland” for the fourth time in a row (according to Travelcircus rankings).

The VitalBoutique Hotel Zurzacherhof *** is located right next to the thermal spa. As a hotel guest, you'll enjoy free access to the thermal baths, including the wellness and fitness areas, as well as use of the «Zuzi» bus and various discounts in Bad Zurzach.
2) Black Forest Getaway
The Dorint Thermenhotel Freiburg in the Black Forest (DE) is connected to the Keidel Mineral Thermal Spa via a "bathrobe corridor." From your hotel room, you can dive straight into the wellness oasis. Experience over 6,000 m² of wellness area with eight pools fed by thermal water from its own source, reaching temperatures of up to 41°C, as well as nine different saunas – all nestled in the idyllic surroundings of the Black Forest.
For hotel guests, admission to the thermal spa is included in the overnight rate (excluding access to the sauna area).
Even in good weather, the thermal hotel is a top choice: with over 1,800 hours of sunshine per year, Freiburg is an attractive destination year-round – for shopping, culinary delights along the Baden wine route, or leisurely bike or hiking tours.
Did you know that Freiburg im Breisgau is only a 45-minute drive from Basel? It's worth a visit!
3) Retreat in the Allgäu
About an hour's drive from Lake Constance, in Biberach an der Riss, the Lerch family welcomes you to the Parkhotel Jordanbad ****. Directly connected to the family-run hotel is the Therme Jordanbad with three oases of relaxation: a 3,000 m² sauna world, a 6,000 m² thermal spa, and numerous massages and treatments at the ParkSPA. An absolute highlight is the Scandinavian-style sauna village in the heart of the park.
Entry to the Therme Jordanbad with sauna landscape is free for hotel guests.
In addition to an excellent wellness program, the Parkhotel also offers two restaurants serving traditional Swabian dishes as well as international cuisine and a selection of 100 exquisite wines. For those who prefer to stay active, you can explore the Oberschwaben-Allgäu region on foot or by bike, with its nature reserves, protected moors, and well-marked cycling routes.
